Bandar Mahkota Cheras: Where is the justice?

On Thursday night, approximately 1000 residents from Bandar Mahkota Cheras (hereinafter referred to as 'BMC') held a protest at an intersection of Grand Saga's toll highway.

The crux of the contention lies in the fact that Grand Saga, the highway company, put in place concrete barricades on a toll-free route in an attempt to force road users to pay for the toll.

What was more atrocious than that was the unprofessional, unethical and biased handling of the protest by the Malaysian police force.

Not only does it tear my heart to see the inhumane and degrading treatment imposed by the police on civilians, it also baffles me as to the apparent partial stance taken by the them.

Should not it be known to the police that where such a gridlock has occurred, it is imperative to be the 'peacemaker' between the parties in dispute and not take the sides, especially that of the rich and well-connected such as Grand Saga?
