I have not blogged for some time. I have been busy and lazy these days. The final exams ended in early June and I have been busy travelling and working since.
My recent trips encompassed places like Langkawi and Koh Lipe, Thailand. The latter was literally heaven on earth. The crystal clear beaches, fine and silky sand, amazing underwater life, and let us not forget the overly affordable (I have stopped using the word 'cheap' because of the negative connotation that it carries) food and alcohol. Taking time out from the hustle and bustle of the city life, that has become so dry, restless and mundane, was quite timely.
If there is one thing I picked up from this trip, I realised that I should be more environmental. I am not implying that I am now a tree hugger, a vegetarian or even a PETA activist. I will do what I can in my capacity but it must be basic and practical. Hence, my initiative to be more environmental would include things like switching off any electrical items such as lights, air conditioners and the like, when not in use. I may opt to travel via public transport than drive to my destination to reduce carbon emission. Start recycling items which are not needed any more. The last initiative, albeit extreme in the Chinese traditional and cultural sense, is to abstain from consuming endangered species and its by-products such as bird's nest, shark's fin and variants thereof. The initiatives abovementioned not only advocate my environmental views but is economically-friendly as well :)
Mother nature is a work of beauty but we take her for granted by over exploiting, polluting and abusing all these wonderful natural resources given to us. I only hope more people will feel what I feel after reading this but I suppose the change has to come from me first. The famous quote goes, '..to change the world, first you have to change yourself. For when you change, the world changes with you..'
As for work, I started my internship at a small sized law firm in Plaza Mont Kiara in July. The firm specialises in litigation, employment and commercial law, just to name a few, which provided me with ample insights into legal practice. The founding partner is a very helpful and generous individual. On top of that, the firm pays me well. While the paperwork and research can be rather tedious, I suppose it is part and parcel of being a legal practitioner.
I promise I will post some photos from my trip in the next update so please bear with me.
