Threat on democracy

I am laden with disappointment, sadness and outrage of news on Benazir Bhutto's assassination.

In retrospect, the said politician has done nothing but relentlessly fought for greater democracy in Pakistan since the beginning of her career only to be shunned, hated and disregarded by Islamic conservatives who cannot comprehend nor accept her liberal ideas and beliefs.

It is a shame and a great loss for the people of Pakistan as Bhutto was the gleam of hope for a nation whose been long under the rule of the military regime.

While I would like to think that the fight for democracy has not been impeded by terrorism, it is utterly difficult not to.
