Just before leaving for college, I checked my inbox only to see an email from Dr Joe Organ, the admissions administrator, informing me that a decision on my application has been made. He also mentioned that since I am an international applicant, the decision will be made known via email and post. The reason for that is because they wanted me to receive the news as soon as possible rather than wait for the post, which could take a while to arrive since the year end holidays are nearing.
Despite the early rejection, I am glad to have a contingency plan: to reapply the following year after achieving my grades. While this means that I have to wait a year to enter university, I intend to use that period to seek work experience with several law firms; take up AS-level Business Studies and/or Mathematics to strengthen my application, as well as spend time with my significant other. In addition, in the event that I do receive an offer from a university, it would only be reasonable that I allow my parents ample time and preparation to arrange the finances.
It is not all that bad, so to speak.
