I was taken aback with this article which focuses on a newly promoted police officer, requesting the public to contact him of any displeasing events or ongoing crimes. His contact number and email address was included.
In conjunction with his initiation to curb crime, I decided to inform him of my grievance with regard to the epidemic of 'mat repits' in my neighbourhood. Below is the email I sent to Ku Chin Wah, CID chief Senior Asst Comm (II) of Kuala Lumpur. I am keeping for my fingers crossed and hoping for the best..
Dear Sir or Madam,
With regards to the aforementioned subject, I would like to request that additional police patrol cars are dispatched on a daily basis to the following address:
BANDAR TUN RAZAK, CHERAS 56000
(REMAINING PORTION OF ADDRESS WITHELD)
Over the last few months, the BANDAR TUN RAZAK area has experienced an increase of:
- MAT REMPITS; underaged teenagers and young adults who perform dangerous stunts (superman, wheelies etc) on the main road where pedestrians and moving vehicles are present.
- UNLICENSED MOTORCYCLISTS; underaged teenagers who drive motorcycles at speeds above the legal limit; and driving without a helmet.
- UNDERAGE SMOKERS; students dressed in their school uniform who opening smoke cigarettes, sniff glue, and consume alcoholic beverages.
- HARASSMENT OF PASSER-BYS; female pedestrians who are constantly verbally and physically harassed by motorcyclists; snatch thieves who target victims walking alone.
I have previously made several police reports by phone to the CHERAS POLICE STATION but only to know of the recurrence of these unpleasant incidents . With that said, I sincerely appeal to the Royal Malaysian Police to dispatch additional police patrol cars to ensure the peace and safety of residents in Bandar Tun Razak.
Once again, I sincerely thank you for your time and cooperation.
Best regards,
A Frightened Resident from BTR.
