Referring to the aforementioned article published on 11th April 2007 overwhelmed me with great detest and trepidation. The incident has, once again, clearly demonstrated and affirmed the practice of abuse of authority by police personnel on individuals.
The act of publicly shaming, insulting and causing physical harm to a female individual over an accident is something that only a ruthless, unreasonable and barbarous person is capable of committing, comparable to a gangster. What ever happened to the 'mesra, cepat dan betul' etiquette?
Has upholding the rule of law in our society by the police become a thing of the past? Do they truly enjoy their infamous reputation of being incompetent, morally depraved and prone to infringing civil rights? Have they already forgotten the cases of Botakgate and Squatgate? I dearly hope not.
